Asha Sharma was born in village Sekha (near Barnala). Her family consisted of dad, Master Sarup Singh (he was in Airforce, later became a teacher), mother Godavari, elder brother, Sudarshan Guddu (M.A. B.Sc., B.Ed) and a younger sister, Neelam Sharma (MA (Math), B.Ed.).
Asha is married to Mr. Harmohan Singh. (Harmohan, born in Lukhnow, educated in South India and later MBA from J&K (Gold Medalist). He is now working as Operations Manager with Tut Bros. Harmohan is very appreciative of Asha’s talent and has been very supportive to Asha’s career. Their daughter, Sukriti, is very talented. She is doing training in EKG and CNA. She has been running one-hour radio program daily since May 1999. She sometimes drives Asha to performances and knows many songs and tapes that Asha listens to. Bubble is another member of the family. Asha loves Bubble is like her own son. Bubble and his wife are a part and parcel of the family.
Asha lived in San Jose (Evergreen area) and was employed in Watsonville, she decided to make Watsonville as her home town and now lives there.
Asha is now a vegetarian. Her favorite food is Makki Dee Roti and Sarson Da Saag. She likes bhindi also.
Asha obtained a B.Ed degree from Sidwan College and MA (English) from Punjabi University Patiala. She got her first employment in 1979 as an English teacher at BGS Public School Barnala. She is very proud that one of her student got 98% marks. In 1984, Asha joined BCM Arya Senior Secondary school (owned by Hero Cycle) and worked for 6 years. In 1989, she started worked at Sacred Heart Convent School. Ludhiana. In 1991, she got government teaching job and worked at Government Senior School, Shehna. Later in 1992, she got transferred to Khijra Bad School near Chandigarh. Later she secured a transfer to Kumbran. In 1995, she accepted radio station job from Tut brothers and moved to USA in 1998. Since then, Asha is doing a fine job as managing Geet Sangeet radio station entertaining thousands of punjabis in northern California.
