Kohinoor club organized a house full event to honor Asha Sharma for her dedication and services she has been rendering to the community. Prominent dignitaries from the community including top media journalists, artists and personalities felt proud to be part of this memorable evening and were present at the event.

At the start of the event Asha Sharma was welcomed by the chair holders of Kohinoor club who presented bouquets as a token of love. The welcome ceremony was offered by board members including Parmjit & Parminder Randhawa, Gurjatinder & Pinky Randhawa, Navtej & Bhupinder Riar, Bahadur &, Jaswinder Kaur Mundi, Niti Riar, Pavittar & Charnjit K Nahal, Hari & Sukhi Sohi, Vinay Shukla, Tajinder & Manjit K Sibia. The stage was then handed over to stage MC Gurjatinder. S Randhawa and Sukhi Sohi.

Prominent speakers came on stage and offered their thoughts and comments for Asha Sharma. Main speakers included Parmjit Singh Randhawa (President Kohinoor Club), Pargat Singh Grewal (Prof. Mohan Singh Foundation, Ludhiana), Daljit Singh Saran (Chief Editor, Amritsar Times), Bhajan Singh Randhawa, Satnam Singh Khalsa, Pavittar Singh Nahal, Husan Ladoa Banga, Kuldeep Dhaliwal, Madan Sharma, Harry Gill (Akali Leader), Navtej Singh Riar, Surinder S Dhanoa, Charan Singh Judge, Sukhchain Singh, Gurbakhshish Singh Grewal, Sardar Panchhi (Poet), Sohan Singh Maheru, Kamal Banga, Sukriti Sharma, Tilak Chumber, Gurmeet Kaur Chhinna, Harjot Singh Khalsa and Satwant Singh Dhillon. Dr Gurpreet Dhugga, Physician at Kaiser Permanente and a dignitary in Punjabi and American community was also present at the function.

“The Living Legend, Asha Sharma”, a book edited by Dr Parmjit Randhawa and Sukkie Uppal dedicated to Asha Sharma was released by Kohinoor Club and the first copy of the book was presented to Asha Ji. A Phulkari was also presented to Asha Sharma by Parminder Randhawa on behalf of Kohinoor Club. The book consisted of writings by famous community figures and artists who penned their thoughts on Asha Sharma.The book was jointly presented by Dr Parmjit Randhawa, Sukkie Uppal, Gurjatinder S Randhawa, Navtej S Riar, Dr Hari Sahi S Sohi, Sukh Sohi, Bahadur S Mundi, Pargat S Grewal (President, Prof Mohan S Foundation)

Kohinoor Club of Sacramento recognizes that Asha Sharma has achieved a distinction as Master of Ceremonies (MC) in Punjabi Cultural stages. For the past few years, it has been discussed among the club members and with other prominent members of our community. The consensus was that she is an excellent in her profession andis most admired by the audience.

Kohinoor Club and SadaPunjab.com ( a site focusing on punjabi culture and entertainement ) were jointly blessed with the oppurtunity to showcase Asha Sharma on the internet as an effort to showcase the examplary living legend to the world.

First thing that stood out during these discussions was the fact that people made their choice of attending the Punjabi cultural programs after knowing that she is going to be MC at the show. Secondly it was easy to conclude that she should be recognized for her efforts and professionalism.

Community had very many good things to say in many different ways about Asha Sharma. This love and affection shown by the people of Punjabi and Indian origin has prompted Kohinoor Club to compile and preserve comments about Asha Sharma by our community into a book and organize a function for its presentation to her.
